Part Four - Set Up, Publish and Promote Your Real Estate Blog

Set Up and Create Your Blog - You have finally decided to add your voice to the blogosphere.  The easiest place to get started is ActiveRain.  It is a great place to get your feet wet.  It's free, it's easy to get started and there are a lot of great resources and a lot of support among the members.  If you want to go out on your own and try something that gives you more creative license, there are free blogging software options such as Blogger, and inexpensive software options such as typepad.com and wordpress.com.  You can always start on a free blogging platform and upgrade once you find out this blogging thing is for you.

Write and Publish Posts on Your Blog - Now that you have your blog set up, it's time to start writing.  There are many different styles of blogs and there are hundreds of different types of real estate blogs.  The best thing to do is find an area you are passionate about and focus on that one thing and do it better than anyone else.  While reading other peoples blogs, you probably noticed there were list of books and other blogs and resources.  This information can get overwhelming and can burn you out.  And the thought of writing on a regular basis can be a bit daunting to most people.  Try to dedicate 20 to 30 minutes each morning or each night to either reading about blogs or writing a post.  This is really all that is necessary to be successful.

Promote Your Blog - If you write a blog and nobody reads it, did you really write it?  Promotion is the way of keeping the energy up.  Without other people reading and hopefully responding to your blog posts, you will very quickly lose interest and your blog will die.  That is why you need to tell people about your blog.  The easiest way is to send them emails.  You can also put a link to your blog in your signature of all the emails you write.  You can also put a link to your blog on your website.  Then there is internet promotion.  You can submit your site to search engines and blog ranking sites such as blogflux.com.  There are also sites that will submit your blog to places you never knew existed like netvibes.com and feedburner.com. Leaving comments on others' blogs is another great way to bring more visitors to your blog.
